Ramadan is often associated with the crescent moon, as it marks the beginning and end of the holy month in the Hijri calendar.

In this project, however, I explored a different direction. I reflected on the moments of fasting and breaking the fast, and how they are connected to sunrise and sunset, as well as the changing appearance of the sky at the time each prayer begins.

This contemplation developed into a series of five paintings, each representing a prayer time in a symbolic way, alongside my own typographic interpretation of the phrase “Hayya ‘ala Al-Salah/ حي على الصلاة” (Call to prayer).

This painting is a poetic reflection on the Khobar Water Tower and the structural changes that began around 2024–2025.

Built in the 1990s(?), the tower has been a familiar presence for generations of locals. Even for those of us who never went near it, it carried a sense of home.

a quiet symbol of the city itself.

With the recent modifications, the tower’s iconic silhouette is slowly disappearing.

In this work, the familiar structure is reimagined as a departing star, a visual elegy for a landmark that has shaped memories, identity, and the skyline of Khobar city.

This project began with an observation of time and its irreversible flow. While we mark each year with the first of January, that day is never truly the same as the first of January 2025.

This poetic work captures the passage of days, inspired by the linguistic interplay between the Arabic words تَمْر (Tamer) and تَمُر (Tamor), as well as the English words “Date” (the fruit) and “Date” (the day). Time moves swiftly and never returns, yet every moment leaves its mark, whether subtle or significant.

The project goes beyond simple phonetic resemblance to reflect on time and the fruits of effort, achievements that require patience and contemplation to be fully appreciated.

By translating this concept into a 2025 calendar, the work highlights the beauty of simplicity and the importance of valuing each passing moment, like dates that accumulate to leave a lasting imprint on our lives.









Artist Statment

The foundation of my practice is built on observation and curiosity. By tracing the connections between identity and daily life through metaphor and symbolism, I map the intricate ways we relate to ourselves and the world around us. This process often involves linking seemingly unrelated elements, allowing unexpected meanings to emerge. By highlighting the overlooked details of the everyday, where the mundane is reframed and seen anew.

Celestial forms and stars serve as a recurring visual language within this exploration, not as distant objects, but as mirrors of human energy. Viewed as portraits of individuality, each form reflects a unique force, shining in its own specific way.

Whether expressed through painting, digital media, or art objects, the medium is always dictated by the needs of the story and concept. Experimentation remains the vital pulse of this process, ensuring that discovery is as essential to the final presentation.



التأمل والملاحظة هما المحرك الأول في ممارساتي الفنية. ومنهما ينبثق الفضول كأداة بحث أستكشف بها ما يربطنا بأنفسنا وجوهر تجربتنا البشرية

يقودني هذا البحث أحياناً للجمع بين مواضيع قد لا تبدو متصلة؛ لكنها حين تلتقي في فضاء العمل، تفتح آفاقاً جديدة وتدفعنا لرؤية المألوف بمنظور مختلف تماماً. وفي فلكي الفني، اتخذتُ من النجوم والانبثاقات الضوئية لغةً بصرية؛ فهي بالنسبة لي ليست أجراماً بعيدة، بل انعكاسٌ للإنسان وتفرده. بعضها يضيء، وبعضها ينساب كـ وميض هادئ، بينما يشع بعضها الآخر في كل اتجاه؛ فلكل روح لمعانها الخاص.

لا أحصر رؤيتي في وسيط فني واحد، بل أترك المفهوم هو الذي يختار وسيلته؛ سواء كانت ريشة رسم، أو تقنية رقمية، أو مجسماً فنياً. يظل البحث عن الوسيط الأنسب للرسالة هو أساس ممارستي، فالمتعة بالنسبة لي تكمن في رحلة الاكتشاف بقدر ما تكمن في اللحظة التي يكتمل فيها العمل ويظهر للجمهور
